Quasar Satellite Technologies (QSAT is an Australian company on a mission to provide scalable, cost-effective ground station service solutions for space communications and space domain awareness.

A HUGE OPPORTUNITY

Their pure digital and true multibeam phased array ground station system can support up to a hundred satellite communications simultaneously with a single compact antenna. By replacing fields of parabolic dishes with an antenna the size of a coffee table, their disruptive communications technology will dramatically lower the cost of doing business in space.

THE FOCUS OF THE GRANT APPLICATON

With support from the Australian Government’s Industry Growth Program, QSAT will develop its multi-beam, phased array ground station prototype towards a specification that is suitable for scale manufacture. The project’s main activities include specifying requirements, detailed design and simulations, procurement of materials and manufacture and deployment of an all-sky capable multi-beam phased array ground station.

THE RESULT

With the support of Scale Impact, QSAT has been successful in securing $2.5m from the Industry Growth Program to expand their Multi-beam X-Band Phased Array Ground Station Development to TRL8, strengthening Australia’s sovereign capability in space ground infrastructure.
